Hey, I’m Tory Johnson and I’m thrilled that you’re here.

In the last 18 months I’ve undergone a transformation that’s impacted every aspect of my life and I can’t wait to share it all with you here.

In my early 20s, I was fired from a job I loved. That experience freaked me out so much that I decided to chart my own course by shifting from employee to entrepreneur. So for the past 14 years I have helped women advance their careers and launch their own businesses with my two million-dollar businesses, Women For Hire and Spark & Hustle.

Not only was I running two very successful businesses, but I’m also a weekly contributor on ABC’s Good Morning America.

While I was living my dream job and happily married with two great kids, another part of my life was a mess.

I was fat and always had been.

I hated the way I looked and fooled myself into thinking I could hide behind clothes. I tried every fad diet and failed each and every time. At some point I gave up on diets, convinced that being plus-sized was my destiny.

Then a few weeks before Christmas 2011, a single conversation changed me forever. It had a life-altering impact on me—one that was far more powerful than being fired decades earlier. This time, a TV executive told me I needed to lose weight.


Suddenly what I had known all along was sitting right in front of me—all of the clothing tricks and get slim quick methods I tried hadn’t and wouldn’t work—ever. I was ashamed, but I knew she had told me something I needed to hear, and I was grateful.


It was time to solve this weight riddle once and for all.  I knew for sure I wasn’t about to return to yet another get slim quick diet.  I was ready to make a major shift in the way that I looked, felt and lived my life.

That was the beginning of The Shift.

I realized that in order to lose the weight for good I had to make a radical—and permanent—shift in my thinking.  I discovered that what I put in my head was far more powerful than what I put in my mouth.

GMA QuadLosing weight became my top goal. There were no excuses. I stuck with it and in one year I lost 62 pounds and developed a healthier, happier lifestyle.

I never thought I’d talk publicly about my battle with weight loss and how I overcame it.  But millions of people watched my transformation on national TV every week, and viewers began to notice.  Women on the street, in malls and in airports began to compliment me. I was flooded with emails and comments on Facebook and Twitter.

The Shift is my answer to the thousands of women who have asked, “Tory, how’d you do it?”

I want better, healthier, happier lives for all women so I’m turning my focus to my most important mission yet: changing the health and wellness of women across the country.

I’m devoted to helping other women end the cycle of pain, discomfort and dissatisfaction that comes with being fat. I know this topic all too well only now I’m comfortable and confident sharing my personal struggle because I’ve done something to change it.
